FPK News. On Monday, August 26, 2019, the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK) Universitas Airlangga has received an official visit from Prof. Nurul Huda from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Malaysia. He is an expert in the field of food technology and fishery. He is also a member of Indonesian Diaspore, who actively collaborate with Universities in Indonesia. During his visit to the FPK, he met the Dean of FPK, Prof. Dr. Mirni Lamid MP., drh., and discussed the cooperation programs, such as student and academic staff exchange, and the sandwiches program for graduate students between these two Universities. Prof. Nurul Huda also briefly gave a guest lecture for 5th semester students with the theme “Marine Toxin: Introduction of Seafood Poisoning”. The Guest lecture event, which provides an expert in the fishery technology from abroad, is one of the Universitas Airlangga program to increase the university rankings and to increase student benefit and experience.
After the guest lecture, his visit continued to the Department of Marine and Fisheries Technology Study Program (THP). On this occasion, he met with the head of the Department of Marine Affairs, Dr. Laksmi Sulmartiwi, S. Pi., MP and chair of the Fishery Technology study Program, Dr. Rr. Juni Triastuti, S. Pi., M.Si., and academic staff, to discuss several collaboration programs. Dr Laksmi and Dr Juni proposed to have students from FPK to conduct internship and final year project in UMS and vice-versa, which Prof. Nurul Huda agreed. The discussion was also attended by Dr. Adriana Monica Sahidu, Ir., M. Kes. She will visit UMS for staff outbound program on October 2019. Hopefully, we will see more collaboration between FPK and UMS in near future.
