Apply the Student Center Learning Method, UMT lecturers gave a guest lecture about Aquatic Ecology at FPK UNAIR

FPK News – Airlangga University Fisheries and Marine Faculty (FPK UNAIR) held a guest lecture by bringing in guest lecturers from abroad. A regular guest lecture was held by FPK UNAIR to improve students’ scientific insight. This time, FPK UNAIR brought in a Lecturer at the Universiti Malaysia Terengganu Center for the Study of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Mr. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd. Hanafi Idris.

The guest lecture held on Monday 3 December 2018 took the topic of Aquatic Ecology. The guest lecture was attended by approximately 50 students from semester 3 to 7. Participants consisted of students from the Aquaculture Study Program and also participated by students from the Fisheries Product Technology Study Program. The lecture material provided is delivered in a fun method. “I will deliver the lecture with the Student Center Learning method, so that students are more proactive in following the lecture process. Students can use various sources and additional tools such as books, devices, internet access to support the lecture process, “said Assoc. Prof. Dr. hanafi when opening the lecture.

“Because lectures are delivered interactively, making students who take guest lectures is more proactive. During the lecture process of Assoc Prof. Dr. Hanafi provides a general description and keywords and students are tasked with exploring the material according to the keywords given. Students actively discuss, exchange opinions in groups that have been divided and then alternately present the results of discussion of the material. The atmosphere of the lecture like this makes students not bored and not passive. It was proven that the lecture was completed for two hours, there were no passive students, let alone sleepy in the classroom. “Said Annur Ahadi, M.Sc as one of the companions of the guest activities.

“Guest lectures like this are very useful for students because the knowledge gained is broader and more diverse, hopefully this guest lecture in the future can be reproduced” Said Kevin, one of the students who attended the Guest Lecture.

HYEGENE AND SANITATION
This course discusses the principles and implementation of hygiene and sanitation in the aquatic product processing industry, the role and benefits of hygiene and sanitation for food safety of aquatic products, hygiene and sanitation in supporting HACCP in aquatic products.
