In celebration of the 96th Youth Pledge anniversary with the theme “Advance Together with Indonesia Raya,” Universitas Airlangga is hosting an inspiring moment of unity. On Monday, October 28, 2024, the entire Unair academic community is encouraged to wear traditional attire from various regions as a tribute to Indonesia’s diversity and unity. This invitation reinforces Unair’s role as a platform that embraces diversity and a commitment to preserving local culture within campus life.
It’s not just about the attire; this year’s celebration is made even more festive with the “Most Attractive Traditional Attire” competition. Three staff members from each faculty and postgraduate school will be judged and selected based on the uniqueness and creativity of their traditional attire. Faculties and postgraduate schools are permitted to organize this competition independently, and winners will be awarded through their respective budgets.
For departments, directorates, institutions, and centers within Unair, traditional attire assessments will be conducted directly by the Rectorate team, ensuring a comprehensive and professional evaluation. This event serves not only as a show of appreciation but also as a means to strengthen a sense of unity in diversity, celebrating the motto of Unity in Diversity in a tangible way in higher education.
In addition, all faculties and postgraduate schools are encouraged to capture and share these special moments on their social media platforms on October 28. Photos will be collected using the official hashtags #YouthPledgeUnair and #UnairHebat. Through social media, the spirit of diversity upheld by Unair can spread widely, inspiring younger generations to embrace Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage.
The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences at Universitas Airlangga is also enthusiastic about joining the celebration. As noted by the Dean, wearing traditional attire during the Youth Pledge commemoration is not just ceremonial but also a reflection of love for Indonesian culture.
