The Student Exchange Program organized by the Fisheries Product Technology Student Association (HIMATEKHKAN) at Universitas Airlangga offered a dynamic platform for students to broaden their knowledge, strengthen inter-organizational relations, and exchange innovative ideas. This activity not only fostered collaboration but also provided hands-on insights into student organization management.

The comparative study, held on May 31, 2025, took place at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Universitas Airlangga. The program was part of HIMATEKHKAN’s Work Plan, particularly under the External Relations Division, designed to promote cross-learning among student organizations. The event commenced with an opening ceremony, followed by a welcome speech from Dr. Juni Triastuti, S.Pi., M.Si., Head of the Fisheries Product Technology Study Program. Additional speeches were delivered by the heads of each participating student association and the Student Exchange Program committee, providing context and objectives for the day.

Participants were given detailed presentations on the work programs of each division, offering valuable insights into the strategic planning and implementation of student organization activities. The event also included a Forum Group Discussion (FGD), interactive games, and the presentation of commemorative plaques. The closing session featured a guided tour of the faculty, facilitated by KAKEMA as mediators, who explained various facilities available at FPK Universitas Airlangga, allowing students to become familiar with the campus environment and infrastructure.

Two student organizations participated in this program: the Fisheries Product Technology Student Association from Universitas Airlangga and the Marine Science Student Association from Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Ampel Surabaya. The presence of KAKEMA as mediators ensured a smooth campus tour and effective communication during discussions. Through these activities, participants gained comprehensive knowledge about each organization’s work programs, which could serve as a benchmark for planning, evaluating, and improving their own organizational strategies in the future.

The program emphasized not only knowledge sharing but also the establishment of sustainable collaboration between the organizations. By exchanging experiences and best practices, students were encouraged to innovate and develop new activities within their respective associations. This initiative also fostered a culture of creativity, problem-solving, and strategic thinking among participants, which are essential skills for academic and professional development.

Overall, the Student Exchange Program exemplifies how structured inter-university interactions can drive innovation, strengthen networks, and enhance organizational competence. It is expected that such collaborations will continue to expand, providing long-term benefits for student development, academic achievement, and the overall advancement of extracurricular programs within the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science at Universitas Airlangga.
