The official report of English Week: POLISH (Podcast in English) marks the successful implementation of one of the flagship programs initiated by the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Universitas Airlangga. Conducted over eight consecutive weeks from May 8 to June 26, 2025, with one episode released each week, POLISH was designed not merely as a podcast series but as a dynamic and inclusive learning space. The program provided a safe platform for storytelling, exchanging perspectives, and celebrating intellectual journeys in a relaxed yet meaningful format. Through this initiative, the Faculty reaffirmed its commitment to fostering academic enrichment and strengthening English communication competencies among students in an increasingly globalized academic environment.

Throughout the eight-week period, POLISH featured a diverse range of speakers representing multiple perspectives within and beyond the faculty. The podcast welcomed outstanding students whose achievements serve as inspiration, educational speakers who shared new insights and professional experiences, lecturers from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine who offered deeper academic reflections beyond classroom settings, and international guest lecturers who enriched discussions with global viewpoints. By integrating these varied voices, POLISH successfully created a conversational ecosystem that was accessible, engaging, and relevant to contemporary student life. Each episode functioned as a small yet impactful milestone in cultivating a more fluid academic culture—bridging formal knowledge with informal dialogue while promoting English proficiency as a practical skill in academic and professional contexts.

The program’s structure emphasized consistency, quality content production, and audience engagement. Episodes were carefully curated to balance intellectual depth with an approachable tone, ensuring that discussions remained meaningful without losing relatability. This approach aligns with the broader vision of the Faculty to encourage innovative learning methods that extend beyond traditional lectures. By leveraging digital media platforms, POLISH contributed to strengthening the faculty’s academic branding while simultaneously providing students with experiential learning opportunities in communication, media production, and collaborative teamwork. The initiative also demonstrated how student-led programs can effectively support the tridharma principles of higher education by fostering education, knowledge dissemination, and community-oriented dialogue.

Overall, English Week: POLISH stands not only as a completed podcast series but as a shared journey that reinforces the idea that learning is a lifelong and boundless process—sometimes serious, sometimes relaxed, yet always meaningful. The program highlights the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine’s adaptability in embracing creative educational formats to enhance student engagement and global readiness. It is hoped that POLISH will inspire future initiatives that continue to integrate language development, intellectual discourse, and digital innovation, strengthening the Faculty’s role in preparing graduates who are academically competent, communicatively confident, and globally competitive.
