On August 19 and 22, 2024, the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Affairs (FPK) Universitas Airlangga (Unair) carried out monitoring and evaluation (Monev) activities for student Field Work Practice (PKL) programs in several companies, one of which was at PT Alter Trade Indonesia. This Monev activity was attended by two lecturers from the Department of Aquaculture and Marine, namely Luthfiana Aprilianita Sari, S.Pi., M.Si. and Dwitha Nirmala Sari, S.Pi., M.Si., as well as three educational staff.
PT Alter Trade Indonesia is a company engaged in the processing and export sector of frozen shrimp and other seafood products. In the Monev activity, the team from FPK Unair met with Mr. Rafi, HRD representative from PT Alter Trade Indonesia. In addition, there were three students from the S1 Aquaculture Study Program who were carrying out PKL in the company.
Through interviews and discussions with the company, the Monev team tried to ensure that the PKL activities followed by students were relevant to the needs of the world of work. With direct experience in the frozen shrimp processing industry, students are expected to develop the competencies needed in the world of work, especially in the field of aquaculture.
The hope of this activity is that students are able to implement the knowledge gained in college into real practice in the field. This Monev activity is also an important means for the faculty to evaluate the PKL program so that in the future it can continue to be adjusted to the needs of the industry.
