On Saturday, September 20, 2025, the Fisheries Processing Club (FPC) of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), successfully held its signature program titled “Talk to Mi: Talking with Alumni” at the faculty’s main building. The event brought together all FPC members for an insightful discussion with one of the faculty’s outstanding alumni, aiming to bridge the gap between academic life and professional experience.
The “Talk to Mi” program was designed as a seminar and sharing session that connects students with alumni who have already entered the professional world. The main objective of the event was to motivate and provide valuable insights to FPC members about post-graduation life and career readiness. Through this activity, students were encouraged to prepare early for their future careers by understanding real workplace dynamics and learning directly from alumni who have walked the same academic path.
The event began with welcoming remarks from the organizing committee chairperson and the head of the Fisheries Processing Club, followed by the main presentation by guest speaker Thoriq Ar-Royyan, S.Pi., an alumnus of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Airlangga. In his talk, Thoriq shared his personal journey after graduation, discussed professional challenges, and provided practical advice on building adaptability, communication skills, and resilience in the working environment. He emphasized the importance of soft skills and continuous learning as key factors for success in today’s competitive job market.
Participants responded enthusiastically throughout the session. The discussion flowed interactively, with students eagerly asking questions about career preparation, industry demands, and professional development opportunities. Many attendees expressed that the session not only expanded their understanding of career options but also inspired them to plan their next steps more strategically. The alumni’s presence also strengthened the connection between current students and the broader FPK UNAIR community, reinforcing the spirit of collaboration and lifelong learning.
By organizing “Talk to Mi,” FPC UNAIR has reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing competent and future-ready fisheries graduates.
