Fishmart FPK UNAIR Boosts Student Entrepreneurship

From October 20 to November 28, 2025, the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences at Universitas Airlangga once again demonstrated its commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship through the implementation of Fishmart, a flagship student-led business program held at the Student Center of Fakultas Perikanan dan Kelautan Universitas Airlangga. The initiative served as a dynamic platform for promoting and marketing creative products developed by members of the faculty’s academic community, while simultaneously strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem within the institution.

The Fishmart program took place from Monday, October 20, 2025, until November 28, 2025, at the Student Center of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Airlangga. Organized as part of the annual work program of the student executive body, Fishmart was designed to support entrepreneurship and product marketing activities involving students and educational staff within the faculty. The initiative aimed to provide a structured and sustainable promotional space for products created by students and administrative personnel, as well as collaborative products developed in partnership with the faculty cooperative. Sales were conducted both offline, through physical booths at the Student Center, and online, via the official social media platforms of the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences. This hybrid marketing approach enabled broader outreach, enhanced visibility, and more flexible engagement with potential consumers, both within and beyond the campus environment.

Throughout one full organizational term, Fishmart actively involved the entire academic community of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences as consumers and supporters of student-driven enterprises. The program not only functioned as a marketplace but also as a practical learning laboratory where students were able to develop essential business competencies. Participants gained hands-on experience in product management, financial planning, branding, customer engagement, and digital marketing strategies. By integrating entrepreneurial practice into the academic environment, Fishmart complemented formal education and aligned with the faculty’s broader mission of preparing graduates who are adaptive, innovative, and industry-ready. The program also strengthened collaboration between students and educational staff, fostering a culture of mutual support and cross-functional cooperation within the faculty.

Beyond generating direct economic benefits for participating entrepreneurs, Fishmart contributed significantly to the establishment of a healthy and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem within the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences. The initiative stimulated increased interest in entrepreneurship among students, encouraged the emergence of new product ideas, and opened opportunities for future business collaborations and expansion. Through consistent implementation and strong community participation, Fishmart successfully created an effective promotional and marketing channel, enhanced creativity and innovation among members of the academic community, and reinforced productive collaboration between students and staff. Overall, Fishmart stands as tangible evidence that the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences at Universitas Airlangga is capable of cultivating an environment that nurtures entrepreneurial spirit, innovation-driven initiatives, and a productive academic culture aligned with global standards of higher education.
