In an important move to strengthen its workforce for permanent appointment, five staff members from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Universitas Airlangga (FPK UNAIR) participated in the Pre‑Service Training (Diklat Pratugas) organised by the Directorate of Human Resources Universitas Airlangga (SDM UNAIR) between 18 and 24 May 2025. The week‑long programme, held on the Surabaya campus of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), forms part of the formal route for appointment of permanent staff across the university. During the session, participants were equipped with the foundational values of UNAIR, work‑ethics guidelines, national awareness, as well as character and professionalism development tailored for higher‑education administrative and support roles.

Of the five attendants from FPK, one staff member achieved the distinction of “Best Participant” upon completing the first stage of training — a notable accomplishment that brought pride to FPK UNAIR. The Dean of FPK UNAIR offered his congratulations and emphasised his admiration by saying, “Sugoi desu ne!” — a Japanese expression meaning “extraordinary” — to applaud the success and show support for the staff’s achievement. He added that “this performance reflects the high calibre and steadfast spirit of FPK’s human resources to continue growing and to contribute optimally to the institution.”

The involvement of the five FPK staff in this training marks a strategic first step in preparing competent and dedicated human resources ready to become an integral part of Universitas Airlangga’s progress. The initiative aligns with the university’s broader mission of strengthening institutional capability, enhancing service quality, and embedding professional values within its workforce.
