The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Universitas Airlangga (FPK UNAIR), through its Faculty Ambassadors, took a significant step toward strengthening students’ career readiness by establishing a strategic partnership with PT Prima Karya Sarana Sejahtera (PKSS). On Wednesday (June 17, 2026), FPK UNAIR Ambassadors participated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) followed by an interactive discussion session with PKSS. The initiative reflects a shared commitment to bridging higher education and industry, ensuring that students are better prepared to navigate an increasingly competitive labor market.
The event commenced with welcoming remarks from PKSS representative Andhika Pratama, who expressed appreciation for the visit of FPK UNAIR Ambassadors. He emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting the development of young talents and preparing them for professional careers. According to him, collaboration between industry and universities plays a crucial role in producing graduates who possess not only academic excellence but also practical competencies and strong competitiveness. Through partnerships such as this, students gain broader insights into industry expectations and career opportunities, enabling them to better align their skills with workforce demands.
Dwitha Nirmala, S.Pi., M.Si., Advisor of FPK UNAIR Ambassadors, welcomed the collaboration and highlighted the importance of fostering strong connections between academic institutions and industry stakeholders. She explained that partnerships with professional organizations provide students with valuable exposure to real-world work environments, helping them understand current industry trends and expectations. “Cross-sector collaboration is an important step toward producing graduates who are competent, professional, and capable of competing in the global workforce. We hope that this partnership will create meaningful benefits for both institutions, particularly for FPK UNAIR students,” she stated. Her remarks underscored the faculty’s ongoing efforts to enhance students’ employability and support career development beyond the classroom.
The interactive discussion session focused on various career opportunities available through PKSS. Hari and Wulan, PKSS representatives and alumni of the Psychology Department at Universitas Airlangga, introduced the company and shared insights into its professional environment. They explained that PKSS is an official subsidiary of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk and collaborates with numerous major institutions, including Pegadaian and BPJS. Supported by a network of 34 branch offices across Indonesia, PKSS offers diverse employment opportunities with flexible placement options in different regions. The speakers also highlighted the company’s commitment to providing career pathways for young graduates seeking professional growth and industry experience.
In addition to introducing the company profile, PKSS representatives outlined the recruitment process and career development programs available within the organization. Various positions, particularly in marketing and sales, were presented as opportunities for graduates to strengthen communication skills, leadership capabilities, adaptability, and mental resilience. PKSS reaffirmed its dedication to creating opportunities for students and fresh graduates to develop professional competencies that will serve as valuable assets in their future careers. The event concluded with the official MoU signing ceremony, a token of appreciation exchange, and a group photo session as a symbol of the newly established partnership between FPK UNAIR and PKSS. This collaboration also supports the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by promoting stronger cooperation between educational institutions and industry partners. Through this partnership, both parties hope to expand career development opportunities for students while contributing to the creation of future professionals capable of supporting sustainable development initiatives.
