Surabaya – Ahead of the 263rd Graduation Ceremony of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK) UNAIR equipped prospective graduates through the August 2026 Graduation Preparation Program held on Friday (28/8/2026). The program served as an important preparation space for graduates before transitioning from academic life into the professional world, entrepreneurship, and various career paths.
The Dean of FPK UNAIR, Prof. Dr. Endang Dewi Masithah, Ir., M.P., opened the program with a message for the prospective graduates. “Congratulations as you embark on a new chapter of life. Believe in your potential, and believe that the blessings of Allah SWT will always accompany you,” she said.
The event was attended by the faculty leadership, lecturers, education staff, prospective graduates, and parents, who came together to provide support during one of the important milestones in the students’ academic journey.
Career Preparation from Campus to the Professional World
The first session was delivered by Rima Firdaus, S.Hum., M.Hum., from UNAIR’s Career and Alumni Impact Center (PKKA) through a session entitled “Preparing to Enter the Workforce.” Participants gained insights into tracer studies and strategies for preparing themselves to enter the professional world.
The session was followed by Khairudin Irfansyah, an alumnus of the Diploma 3 Fish Health Technology Program at UNAIR’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Founder of CV. Asher Aquarium and Beyond Aquarium. He shared his experience of building a career after graduation and encouraged prospective graduates to view the ornamental fish business sector as an opportunity for career development and entrepreneurship.
These insights were further strengthened by Muhammad Syarif Satriyo Samudra, an alumnus of the Aquaculture Study Program at FPK UNAIR from the 2021 cohort and a young entrepreneur in the seaweed cultivation sector. He discussed the potential and challenges of the fisheries and marine sectors, as well as opportunities that FPK UNAIR graduates can develop in the future.
The involvement of PKKA UNAIR and alumni strengthened the synergy between higher education, alumni, and the professional world. This collaboration reflects FPK UNAIR’s commitment to SDG 4: Quality Education by strengthening graduate preparedness, as well as SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through partnerships between the university and its alumni.
Appreciation for Outstanding Prospective Graduates
FPK UNAIR also presented awards to the best students and outstanding students for the August 2026 period. The Best Student awards were presented to Adinda Putri Mutiara Bintang, Muhammad Rizky Putra, and Reyhan Allard Hamsjah from the Fisheries Product Technology Study Program.
Meanwhile, the Outstanding Student awards were presented to Bachtiar Musthafa Akbar Khan, Farrel Bhanu Mahardhika, and Fahrelia Nirbita Putri from the Aquaculture Study Program.
The program concluded with a symbolic handover of FPK UNAIR’s prospective graduates who will participate in the 263rd UNAIR Graduation Ceremony to alumni representatives, followed by a special performance by the prospective graduates. The moment marked the end of their academic journey while simultaneously opening a new chapter, as they carry their knowledge, competencies, and experiences forward into the future.
