Surabaya – The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) prepared prospective graduates through the 263rd Graduation Briefing held on Friday (28/8/2026). The event served as a meaningful moment for students who have completed their academic journey to prepare for the professional world while becoming part of the FPK UNAIR alumni community.
One of the key agendas was the symbolic handover of graduates to Alfath Thariq Arrizal, a representative of the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Universitas Airlangga (IKA FPK UNAIR). The handover marked the transition of prospective graduates from university students into members of the FPK UNAIR alumni network.
On the occasion, Alfath encouraged the prospective graduates to carry forward the competencies and spirit they had developed throughout their studies at FPK UNAIR.
“Alhamdulillah, in the fisheries industry, FPK UNAIR alumni are now given the nickname ‘fisheries tigers’ because of the strong competencies developed by our alumni. We hope that you can maintain this reputation,” he said.
The “fisheries tigers” nickname serves as both motivation and responsibility for the next generation of graduates to uphold the reputation of FPK UNAIR alumni. The competencies developed throughout their education provide a foundation for continued growth and contribution across various sectors, in line with SDG 4 (Quality Education) through strengthening educational quality and graduate competencies.
Appreciation for Outstanding and High-Achieving Students
The 263rd Graduation Briefing also became a moment to recognize students who achieved outstanding results during their studies. The Outstanding Student Award was presented to three graduates from the Fisheries Product Technology (THP) Study Program: Adinda Putri Mutiara Bintang, Muhammad Rizky Putra, and Reyhan Allard Hamsjah.
Meanwhile, the August 2026 Achievement Award was presented to Bachtiar Musthafa Akbar Khan, Farrel Bhanu Mahardhika, and Fahrelia Nirbita Putri from the Aquaculture Study Program.
The awards served as an appreciation of the students’ dedication while inspiring others to continue developing their potential in both academic and non-academic fields.
Toward the end of the event, the atmosphere became more heartfelt through musical performances and poetry readings by the prospective graduates. The performances expressed their appreciation to their families, lecturers, education staff, friends, and other individuals who had supported them throughout their academic journey.
The 263rd Graduation Briefing marked the beginning of a new chapter for the graduates. Carrying the competencies, experiences, and networks they have developed, the new generation of FPK UNAIR alumni is expected to continue contributing across various fields. The connection between the faculty, alumni, and various stakeholders also reflects the spirit of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening collaboration toward shared objectives.
