On Saturday, October 11, 2025, a fish restocking activity took place at the SDGs Lake of IPB University (Bogor Agricultural University), marking one of the key agendas in the official visit program of the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Airlangga (BEM FPK UNAIR). The main activity involved the collective release of tawes fish fry (Barbonymus gonionotus), carried out by all participants together with representatives from IPB who provided the fish. This event was organized in collaboration with the Student Executive Boards of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), and Universitas Padjadjaran (UNPAD). More than 250 participants consisting of BEM FPK UNAIR, BEM FPIK UNDIP, and BEM FPIK UNPAD administrators joined the activity as a shared commitment to aquatic resource conservation and inter-university networking among student organizations.
Following the main activity, remarks were delivered by the Presidents of BEM FPK UNAIR and BEM FPIK IPB, emphasizing the importance of institutional collaboration in preserving freshwater ecosystems and the vital role of students in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The symbolic release of the tawes fish was led by the heads of BEM FPK UNAIR and BEM FPIK IPB, accompanied by representatives from each university’s student ministry groups. This symbolic act marked the spirit of joint action toward sustainability and student-led environmental awareness.
The fish restocking initiative aimed not only to increase the fish population in the SDGs Lake but also to educate participants on the significance of fisheries conservation and the implementation of sustainable natural resource management programs. Through this activity, students were encouraged to integrate environmental ethics into academic and community engagement, aligning with the values of social responsibility promoted by FPK UNAIR. Furthermore, this collaborative initiative became a platform to strengthen solidarity and foster strategic cooperation among BEM FPK UNAIR, UNDIP, and UNPAD toward the realization of environmentally conscious campuses. The joint release of tawes fish symbolizes a long-term effort to improve the ecological balance of campus waters while cultivating a collective awareness among students to take part in environmental conservation movements.
The event concluded with photo and video documentation capturing the release process and participant interactions, followed by an appreciation speech from the IPB organizing representative. The activity was conducted successfully and smoothly without significant obstacles, reflecting the enthusiasm and commitment of all participants. Through this collaboration, the spirit of environmental stewardship and intercampus unity was strongly manifested, reinforcing the role of students as active agents of change in advancing sustainability through academic and community-based initiatives.
