SD Kreatif Muhammadiyah 16 Surabaya Collaborates with FPK UNAIR to Introduce Marine and Fisheries Education from an Early Age
Surabaya, February 18, 2025 – SD Kreatif Muhammadiyah 16 Surabaya once again held the Project for Strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile (P5) with a focus on creativity and innovation. This time, they collaborated with the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK) of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) to assess students’ final project results. The event took place at Building C 501, FPK UNAIR, giving students the opportunity to experience a university learning atmosphere.
Collaboration for Creative Education
The event was attended by the Principal of SD Kreatif Muhammadiyah 16 Surabaya, Mr. Suyono, S.Si., along with teachers from the school. Representing FPK UNAIR, Dr. Eng. Sapto Andriyono, S.Pi., M.T., Vice Dean for Research, Innovation, and Community Development, expressed hope that this collaboration would provide students with insights into the world of fisheries and marine sciences.
The event continued with a presentation by Mr. Terry Previo Avianto, S.Pi., M.Si., a lecturer from FPK UNAIR. He highlighted the importance of Indonesia’s marine resources, which contribute to 54% of the country’s animal protein needs. Therefore, young generations must be creative in optimizing and protecting marine resources.
Final Project Examination and Student Presentations
After the presentation, students participated in their final project examinations, where they showcased their projects before a panel of judges, consisting of two teachers from SD Kreatif Muhammadiyah 16 Surabaya and one lecturer from FPK UNAIR. A total of 15 student groups presented their projects in various categories, including Nutrition, Science and Technology, Environment, and Art and Creativity.
With great enthusiasm, the students explained the principles behind their projects, their objectives, and the references they used. Thanks to the support from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Airlangga, this event demonstrated a strong commitment to introducing fisheries and marine sciences to elementary education.
