Surabaya – The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK) Universitas Airlangga strengthened its commitment to digital transformation in higher education by participating in the Gemini Certified Faculty Training and Certification program organized by the Center for Educational Innovation and Learning Technology (PIPTP) Universitas Airlangga on Thursday (July 30, 2026). Held at Room C502 of FPK Universitas Airlangga, the program equipped lecturers with the knowledge and practical skills needed to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into teaching and learning activities.
As artificial intelligence continues to reshape higher education, the training served as an important initiative to improve AI literacy among academic staff. Through hands-on learning with Gemini, lecturers explored innovative approaches to creating more effective, engaging, and technology-driven learning experiences while adapting to the rapidly evolving digital education landscape.
Advancing AI-Based Innovation in Higher Education
Throughout the training, participants learned practical strategies for utilizing Gemini to support various academic responsibilities. The sessions covered the development of Semester Learning Plans (RPS), preparation of teaching materials, design of learning assessments, creation of presentation content, and development of more interactive classroom activities. Participants also received guidance on effective prompt engineering to generate accurate and relevant AI-assisted outputs for educational purposes.
The program combined lectures, live demonstrations, and practical exercises, allowing participants to immediately apply AI tools to real academic tasks. This interactive approach enabled lecturers not only to understand AI concepts but also to develop confidence in incorporating them into their daily teaching practices.
