Surabaya, October 25, 2025 – The Fisheries Product Technology Student Association (HIMATEKHIKAN) of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) successfully held a study exchange program with the Agrotechnology Student Association (HIMMAGRI) of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur (UPNVJT). The activity, themed FEAST (Food Empowerment and Sustainable Transformation) Study Collaborative, aimed to broaden perspectives, strengthen inter-organizational relations, and serve as a platform for sharing ideas, knowledge, and best practices in student development focused on food empowerment and sustainable transformation.
The event took place at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK), Universitas Airlangga. The day began with an opening session, followed by welcoming remarks from both organizing committee chairs and the heads of HIMATEKHIKAN and HIMMAGRI. The agenda continued with a recorded address from Mr. Heru Pramono, S.Pi., M.Biotech, Head of the Fisheries Product Technology Study Program, and a program introduction session by Mrs. Dwitha Nirmala, S.Pi., M.Si.. After the opening remarks, both organizations presented their work programs and division activities, highlighting their respective approaches to leadership, project management, and student engagement. The event proceeded with a Forum Group Discussion (FGD), where participants exchanged experiences and ideas on student initiatives, followed by interactive sessions designed to foster collaboration and camaraderie among members. The event concluded with an exchange of commemorative plaques and a campus tour guided by KAKEMA FPK UNAIR, allowing HIMMAGRI delegates to explore the faculty’s facilities and environment.
Through this collaborative study program, both student associations gained valuable insights into organizational management, innovation in student activities, and strategies for member empowerment. Participants expressed enthusiasm during discussions, especially on topics related to food security, sustainability, and interdisciplinary collaboration between fisheries and agricultural sciences. The program not only strengthened the relationship between HIMATEKHIKAN and HIMMAGRI but also served as a concrete effort to enhance student leadership capacity in addressing real-world issues related to sustainable food systems.
This study exchange marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration between the two associations, encouraging continuous synergy in academic and non-academic programs. The initiative reflects a shared vision to develop competent, collaborative, and sustainability-oriented student organizations. By integrating knowledge from fisheries technology and agrotechnology, both HIMATEKHIKAN UNAIR and HIMMAGRI UPNVJT aim to contribute to the realization of food empowerment and transformation toward a more sustainable future.
