Surabaya – The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK) Universitas Airlangga welcomed its new master’s students through the FPK Universitas Airlangga Master’s Student Orientation 2026, an event that introduced incoming students to the faculty’s academic environment while bringing together postgraduate students from across Indonesia and abroad. The orientation reflected FPK Universitas Airlangga’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and internationally connected learning community.
Among this year’s international students is Rabia Yaseen, a new student in the Master’s Program in Fisheries and Marine Biotechnology from Pakistan. As a recipient of the Developing Countries Partnership (KNB) Scholarship, Rabia has chosen FPK Universitas Airlangga to pursue her postgraduate education while expanding her research expertise in fisheries and marine sciences.
Before joining Universitas Airlangga, Rabia completed her Bachelor of Fisheries and Aquaculture at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, Pakistan. Her academic background inspired her to further specialize in aquaculture, particularly in the field of aquaculture genetics.
Choosing Universitas Airlangga for Its Global Reputation
Despite having numerous options for postgraduate study, Rabia selected Universitas Airlangga because of its strong international reputation. She believes that a university’s global standing reflects the quality of its education, research environment, and international recognition.
“I chose Universitas Airlangga because it has an excellent global ranking. For me, a university’s ranking speaks volumes internationally and reflects the quality of education and global recognition that the institution has achieved,” Rabia said.
According to her, studying at an internationally recognized university will provide broader academic experiences while creating opportunities to collaborate with researchers and students from different countries.
Pursuing Research with Global Impact
Throughout her master’s studies, Rabia hopes to achieve more than academic success. In addition to graduating on time, she aims to conduct research that contributes meaningfully to the development of Pakistan’s fisheries sector.
She also plans to make the most of her time in Indonesia by exploring the country’s rich culture, particularly the traditions and communities of East Java.
“I hope to graduate on time, produce research that benefits my country, and take the opportunity to explore East Java while studying here,” she said.
