Surabaya – The closing ceremony of Jaladhi 2025, the freshmen orientation program of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK) Universitas Airlangga, organized under the Student Resource Development Ministry (Kementerian PSDM) of BEM FPK, was officially held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the FPK courtyard. The event unfolded in a lively and cheerful atmosphere featuring a series of exciting activities, including an expo, performances, the inauguration of the freshmen cohort name, and bonding sessions such as fishing and a barbecue party. Designed from the start as an introduction to campus life in a fun and engaging way, Jaladhi 2025 received enthusiastic responses from the freshmen of the 2025 cohort.
During the expo session, each study program showcased their signature creations. Students from the Fishery Product Technology (THP) program presented a series of innovative beverage products enhanced with homemade mangrove syrup, while freshmen from the Aquaculture program impressed visitors with their captivating aquascape displays. Beyond the exhibits, every group also designed informative posters and delivered engaging presentations to visitors, making the event both educational and interactive. The expo was attended by lecturers, academic staff, students, and the President of BEM FPK Universitas Airlangga, further enlivening the atmosphere. Awards were given to the best stands in various categories. The “Most Creative Stand” was awarded to Pantai Nihiwatu (THP) and Staphylococcus (Aquaculture), while the “Most Informative Stand” went to Pantai Ngurtafur (THP) and Lactobacillus (Aquaculture). In the main Jaladhi categories, Rajungan Bintang (Portunus sanguinolentus) and Geleteng Pasir (Ocypode kuhlii) were named the “Most United Teams,” while Kepiting Merah (Scylla olivacea) won the “Funniest Group,” and Udang Vaname (Litopenaeus vannamei) received the “Slowest Group” title, adding humor and camaraderie to the celebration.
The highlight of the event was the official announcement of the 2025 freshmen cohort name, “EXOCUS,” derived from the word “flying fish.” The name embodies a philosophy of growth, resilience, and boundless aspiration—symbolizing the hope that the 2025 batch will soar high and break through limitations like a flying fish gliding across the horizon. True to its theme of togetherness and joy, Jaladhi 2025 was not merely a closing event but a meaningful celebration that left lasting impressions on every participant. The well-organized and spirited event reflected the dedication of both committees and participants, successfully fostering a sense of belonging and enthusiasm among the new students.
Overall, Jaladhi 2025 served as an important gateway for new students to become familiar with the academic and social environment of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, encouraging them to build organizational awareness, nurture pride and love for their alma mater, and develop their personal and professional potential. The conclusion of this event officially marked the end of the Jaladhi 2025 series.
