On Friday, August 15, 2025, the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK) at Universitas Airlangga successfully held JALADHI 2025, an annual welcoming event for new students. The event took place across several locations — the 5th, 6th, and 7th floors of Building C, as well as the faculty courtyard — bringing together new students, organizing committees, and supporting staff in a day filled with enthusiasm and academic spirit. Activities began as early as 6:00 a.m. with committee preparations, followed by attendance check-ins for the new students. The official opening ceremony started at 7:00 a.m. with the singing of Indonesia Raya and Hymne Airlangga, led by the event’s master of ceremony. Afterward, participants completed a brief test before being introduced to the event committee members who would guide them throughout the program.
The next session focused on introducing the new students to the laboratory facilities available at FPK. Participants toured several laboratories, including the Wet Laboratory, the Food Laboratory, and the Microbiology Laboratory. Each section was designed to showcase the instruments, experimental setups, and research opportunities that students could explore during their studies. This activity aimed to familiarize students not only with the facilities but also with FPK’s commitment to advancing research and innovation in the field of fisheries and marine sciences. Following the lab introduction, students engaged in interactive games designed to strengthen teamwork, foster friendship, and build a sense of belonging between participants and committee members.
Around midday, students took a break for prayer, lunch, and rest (ISHOMA). The afternoon session resumed with academic presentations on topics such as KAKEMA, FPC, and PKM-KIM, followed by a question-and-answer session. These materials introduced the students to FPK’s academic and organizational landscape, encouraging them to participate actively in research, innovation, and student organizations. The session concluded with another brief assessment and the distribution of tasks by the committee, ensuring the learning experience continued beyond the day’s activities.
Before the closing ceremony, the event featured an explanation of the upcoming exhibition mechanism and the singing of Hymne Airlangga. The highlight of the closing session was the election of class representatives (komting), which involved a public presentation, question-and-answer session, voting, and ballot counting. The entire process was carried out transparently and democratically, reflecting the spirit of leadership and responsibility encouraged within the FPK community.
Overall, JALADHI 2025 ran smoothly, orderly, and full of enthusiasm from both the committee and the participants. Beyond introducing new students to the faculty’s academic environment and research facilities, the event successfully fostered cooperation, shared experiences, and a strong sense of kinship within the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Airlangga.
