Surabaya – Participants of the 2026 Basic Student Management Skills Training (LKMM-TD) at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), received training on secretariat administration and financial management on Sunday (June 7, 2026). The session, delivered by Lailatul Lutfiyah, S.Pi., M.Si., aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of the importance of orderly, transparent, and accountable administrative and financial governance within student organizations.

Administration is one of the key elements that supports the sustainability of an organization. In addition to serving as documentation for organizational activities, administration plays a crucial role in maintaining organizational order, facilitating coordination, and providing a basis for evaluating and reporting program implementation. Therefore, students as future organizational leaders need to develop a solid understanding of proper administrative systems.

During the session, Lailatul Lutfiyah explained various secretariat functions commonly implemented in student organizations, ranging from correspondence management to activity report preparation. According to her, well-organized administration enables organizations to operate more effectively, efficiently, and professionally.

“Good administration is not merely about correspondence or reporting; it is the foundation of an organization that ensures transparency, accountability, and the sustainability of every program implemented,” she explained.

In addition to secretariat administration, participants also received training on organizational financial management. The material covered activity budgeting, recording income and expenditures, preparing financial reports, and maintaining integrity in managing organizational funds.

Lailatul emphasized that every use of organizational funds must be clearly accountable and properly documented. Transparent financial management not only strengthens trust among organization members but also reflects professionalism in carrying out entrusted responsibilities.

Through various case studies presented during the session, participants were encouraged to understand the challenges commonly encountered in organizational administration and financial management. The interactive discussions provided practical insights into the importance of accuracy, discipline, and responsibility in carrying out administrative functions within organizations.

Participants demonstrated strong enthusiasm throughout the session, as reflected in the numerous questions raised, particularly regarding the preparation of activity accountability reports and effective budgeting strategies. The discussion session provided valuable opportunities for students to gain a deeper understanding of sound organizational administrative practices while preparing themselves for future leadership responsibilities.

The Secretariat Administration and Financial Management session aligns with FPK UNAIR’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through strengthening students’ managerial and organizational governance competencies. Furthermore, the implementation of orderly administration and transparent financial management contributes to SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by fostering an organizational culture that is accountable, professional, and built on integrity.

Through this training, LKMM-TD 2026 participants are expected to apply sound administrative and financial management principles in all organizational activities. As a result, student organizations within FPK UNAIR can continue to develop as professional and adaptive learning platforms that contribute positively to both students and the wider community.
