Surabaya – The first day of the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) 2026 at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK) Universitas Airlangga continued with a session on Faculty Academic Activities on Wednesday (August 5, 2026). As part of the FPK Universitas Airlangga PKKMB 2026 program, the session was designed to provide new students with a comprehensive understanding of the faculty’s academic system, curriculum, student services, and various opportunities for personal and professional development throughout their studies.
The session was delivered simultaneously by Putri Desi Wulan Sari, S.Pi., M.Si., Nina Nurmalia Dewi, S.Pi., M.Si., and Dwi Yuli Pujiastuti, S.Pi., M.P. at different venues. Through these presentations, new students were introduced to the university learning paradigm, which emphasizes independent learning, critical thinking, and self-regulated learning as essential foundations for academic success.
Understanding the Academic Learning System
During the session, the speakers introduced the Undergraduate Aquaculture Study Program and the Undergraduate Fisheries Product Technology Study Program, highlighting the graduate competencies designed to meet the evolving demands of the fisheries and marine sectors. Students learned about the expected learning outcomes, which focus on scientific knowledge, analytical skills, professionalism, and responsibility for the sustainable management of aquatic resources.
The presenters also explained the various learning approaches implemented at FPK Universitas Airlangga, including classroom lectures, laboratory practical sessions, field studies, case-based learning, project-based learning, and problem-based learning. These educational methods are designed to develop graduates with both strong academic foundations and practical experience relevant to the professional world.
Exploring the Curriculum and Academic Support Services
In addition to understanding the learning process, new students received an introduction to the curriculum structure based on the Semester Credit System (SKS), course registration procedures (KRS), the role of academic advisors, and the academic regulations that govern their studies at FPK Universitas Airlangga. They were also reminded of the importance of fulfilling attendance requirements for lectures and laboratory sessions as part of their academic responsibilities.
The speakers further introduced various learning support facilities available to students, including the university’s e-learning platform, CyberCampus, the e-Library, and information technology services that facilitate digital learning and academic activities.
Preparing for Academic Success and Global Opportunities
Through the Faculty Academic Activities session, new students are expected to gain a comprehensive understanding of the academic system at FPK Universitas Airlangga while beginning to plan their academic journey from the very first semester. This knowledge serves as an important foundation for becoming adaptive, high-achieving students who are prepared to compete at both national and international levels.
This commitment aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting high-quality higher education and lifelong learning, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by developing graduates equipped with competencies relevant to the workforce, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening international collaborations that create opportunities for student exchanges, research partnerships, and academic capacity building.
