Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK) at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) conducted an academic visit to the Department of Fisheries, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. The visit aimed to evaluate the ongoing partnership and explore strategic collaboration opportunities for future development. The UNAIR delegation, led by FPK Dean Prof. Ir. Mochammad Amin Alamsjah, M.Si., Ph.D., was warmly welcomed by the Head of the UGM Department of Fisheries, Prof. Dr. Ir. Alim Isnansetyo, M.Sc., alongside faculty members and academic staff.
The discussions between UNAIR and UGM were conducted in a highly engaging and productive atmosphere, focusing on achievements in aquaculture research, student exchange programs, and community service initiatives utilizing fisheries technology. Among the collaborative accomplishments highlighted was the joint training on biofloc fish farming systems and the development of adaptive learning modules for coastal communities. Prof. Amin emphasized, “We want to ensure that our collaboration delivers tangible benefits for both academic development and the empowerment of coastal communities.”
Prof. Alim expressed strong support for the evaluation and conveyed UGM’s readiness to expand collaboration toward joint curriculum development and internationally recognized research projects. Proposed initiatives include joint webinars with domestic and international partners, which are expected to generate significant impact for both institutions.
The visit concluded with an agreement to implement various activities under the framework of the existing academic cooperation agreement valid until 2027. Plans also include organizing a national seminar in the near future and launching the SinnTech Webinar Series, further strengthening research and knowledge exchange between the two universities. The visit reflects UNAIR’s commitment to fostering sustainable academic partnerships and enhancing community-oriented innovations in fisheries and marine sciences.
