Surabaya, October 2–4, 2025 — The Undergraduate Program in Fisheries Product Technology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK), Universitas Airlangga (Unair), successfully conducted an on-site accreditation assessment as part of the program’s reaccreditation process by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT). The three-day assessment served as a crucial step to ensure the program’s continuous improvement in academic quality, research performance, and relevance to the national and global fisheries industry.
The assessment was led by two distinguished BAN-PT assessors: Prof. Dr. Tati Nurhayati, S.Pi., M.Si., and Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Iqbal Djawad, M.App.Sc. The opening session featured welcoming remarks from Prof. Moch. Amin Alamsjah, Ir., M.Si., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni, followed by an official reception from the Dean of FPK Unair, Prof. Dr. Endang Dewi Masithah, Ir., M.P. In her address, Prof. Endang emphasized that the reaccreditation marks an important milestone for the program in maintaining its commitment to academic excellence. She expressed high hopes that the Fisheries Product Technology program would achieve the “Excellent (Unggul)” accreditation status, reflecting not only the program’s academic strength but also its alignment with industry and societal needs.
Throughout the three-day visit, the BAN-PT assessors conducted a comprehensive review of the program’s academic and administrative processes. The activities included evaluating academic facilities, reviewing supporting infrastructures, and holding in-depth interviews with the Program Management Unit, permanent faculty members, and academic support staff. In addition, the assessment process involved a series of discussions with key stakeholders, including students, alumni, industry representatives, and government partners from the East Java Provincial Government, to gain a holistic view of the program’s performance and its impact on the professional field.
The Fisheries Product Technology study program showcased various achievements and innovations in fisheries processing technology, highlighting its strong curriculum design, research contributions, and commitment to sustainable fisheries development. The assessors also appreciated the program’s active collaboration with industry partners and research institutions, as well as its efforts to integrate hands-on laboratory training and applied research into the learning process. These strengths underscore FPK Unair’s vision to nurture competent graduates ready to contribute to the national blue economy and global food security challenges.
This reaccreditation process is part of Universitas Airlangga’s continuous effort to enhance academic quality assurance and international competitiveness. By striving for the “Excellent” status from BAN-PT, FPK Unair reaffirms its mission to deliver impactful education, foster innovation in fisheries product development, and strengthen its role as a leading institution in the field of fisheries and marine sciences in Indonesia.
