UNAIR Faculty of Fisheries and Marine students have made another achievement. Abdul Aziz, a 2014 student, won second place in the Regional Student Sports Week (POMDA). The competition, which was held as part of the selection of student athletes throughout East Java, was held at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang on 15-17 May 2017. This time POMDA was attended by 33 state and private universities throughout East Java. Airlangga University participated in the competition by sending 13 athletes consisting of 11 fighter athletes and 2 martial arts athletes. Three other FPK students also participated in this contingent, namely M. Aminuddin Ghufron (2013), Indra Purwanti (2014), and Tirta Agung (2016)
“There are three Pencak silat SMEs that contributed to this competition, namely the Lotus SH UKM, Perisai Diri and Tapak Suci,” said Aziz who is a representative from Tapak Suci. Aziz won the Class A competition category which was attended by 22 participants. The achievements scored by Aziz are not instant, in their preparation Aziz requires regular training and builds a winning mentality in competing. Do not forget Aziz also continues to pray and draw closer to Allah SWT to be given the best achievement. This sixth semester student who holds a jasmine 4 yellow belt in the Tapak Suci pencak silat also helps become an assistant coach. Aziz trains the Sutorejo branch of the Tapak Suci pencak silat.
“I just want to make my parents proud, and want to make other people smile because of me,” motivations Aziz, who is a student from Bojonegoro.
