Purwokerto — On April 30, 2025, the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPK) of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) concluded its series of academic visits in April with a strategic visit to the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK) at Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed) in Purwokerto. The visit aimed to reinforce the ongoing collaboration between the two institutions and explore new opportunities in research, education, and community service.
The UNAIR delegation was led by Dr. Eng. Sapto Andriyono, S.Pi., M.T., Vice Dean for Research, Innovation, and Community Service, accompanied by Dr. Ir. Woro Hastuti Sayantini, M.Si., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni, as well as Dr. Laksmi Sulmartiwi, S.Pi., M.Si., Vice Dean for Resources. Upon arrival, the team was warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Endang Hilmi, S.Hut., M.Si., Dean of FPIK Unsoed, alongside the faculty leadership and academic staff. The meeting atmosphere was both cordial and collaborative, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing fisheries education and research.
During the discussions, both faculties evaluated their existing cooperation, which includes joint research projects, lecturer and student exchanges, and integrated fisheries-based community service programs. Experiences were exchanged on curriculum development aligned with the “Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka” (Independent Learning Campus) framework, as well as strategies to enhance scientific publication output. Dr. Sapto emphasized, “FPIK Unsoed is a strategic partner for us. The collaborations that have been established provide significant benefits, and we aim to expand their impact further. Our ongoing and regular activities are primarily focused on research and publication.”
Prof. Endang expressed FPIK Unsoed’s enthusiasm to strengthen synergy, particularly in joint research programs and the development of freshwater aquaculture technology and sustainable fisheries. Both parties recognized the importance of collaborative innovation in responding to emerging challenges in fisheries management and marine conservation in Indonesia.
The visit concluded with a shared commitment to renew the memorandum of understanding and develop a collaborative roadmap for the 2025–2027 period. Through this strengthened partnership, both faculties aim to generate tangible contributions to Indonesia’s fisheries and marine sectors, fostering research excellence, innovative teaching approaches, and impactful community service initiatives.
