A delegation from Universitas Airlangga (Unair) claimed top honours in Bangkok at the Thailand Inventors’ Day 2025 held by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) on 2–6 February 2025, showcasing two innovative projects that earned silver medals and special awards on the international stage.
A team of ten talented students — Andini Carolina (FPK), Vito Reyner (FPK), Farrel Bhanu (FPK), Fahmi Bayhaqi (FPK), Andhika Hartawan (FTMM), Moch. Aditya (FTMM), Abynaya Mulya (FTMM), Marcellus Chandra (FTMM), Egika Dilla Ananda (FST), and Nurarini Asyifa (FST) — represented Unair at Thailand Inventors’ Day 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand. Their participation was organised and supported by Unair’s faculties and research units as part of the university’s commitment to internationalisation and sustainable innovation.
During the competition, the Unair delegation split into two distinct teams with unique innovations yet shared aspirations to contribute to sustainable technology and global research excellence. The first team, known as SAFTEC (Smart Autofeeder Technology), developed an AI‑ and IoT‑based automatic feeding system designed to enhance efficiency in aquaculture. This system intelligently adjusts feeding quantity and timing, thereby reducing feed waste, promoting fish growth, and cutting operational costs for fish farmers. Thanks to this innovation, SAFTEC secured a silver medal and a Special Award from the PI‑Envex (Presumably an environmental technology recognition) for their outstanding contribution to environmentally friendly aquaculture technology.
Meanwhile, the second team, named MOGGY, presented a Microalgae Power Plant for Biomass & Oxygen Production, which harnesses microalgae energy to generate electricity and oxygen in a sustainable manner. Recognising its potential to support green energy and environmental sustainability, the MOGGY team garnered a silver medal, a Special Prize from the Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA), and a special appreciation honour for their representation of Indonesia through their presentation.
This accomplishment is a tangible proof that Unair students’ innovation can compete globally and receive recognition from the international scientific community. With these achievements, the university expects that more home‑grown innovations will emerge, contributing to the development of sustainable technology and delivering positive impacts to the aquaculture industry and broader society.
