Exploration of analgesic material derived from sea cucumber Phyllophorus sp. against indicators of pain in fish.

Some routine procedures in the fields of cultivation, fisheries, and scientific research such as marking and vaccination have the potential to cause pain and tissue damage. Pain receptor nerves were first characterized in fish and showed physiology identical to mammals when responding to heat, mechanical pressure and chemical stimuli (acetic acid and bee venom). Several previous studies showed significant behavioral changes (decreased swimming activity, abnormal movements and respiratory rate when exposed to pain stimuli.

Bioactive components in sea cucumbers which can cause analgesic activity are triterpenes glycosides. Triterpenes glycosides are saponins commonly found in sea cucumbers. Test results The chemical components of Phyllophorus sp ethanol extract were detected to contain saponin and triterpenoid / streoid, while the methanol extract component of Phyllophorus sp was detected to contain triterpenoid / streoid and alkaloid.The explorations of the chemical compounds of sea cucumber Phyllophorus sp. carp after being injected with acetic acid as a pain stimulation, indicators of pain include increased cortisol and blood glucose.
