FFM-News Visit of the delegation from SSCT, Philippines in order to explore cooperation with FFM – UNAIR. The SSCT delegation consisting of College President, Vice President for Administration, Planning Officer-Designate, Budget Officer III and Director Extension Services were welcomed by FFM Dean, Prof. Dr. Mirni Lamid, drh., MP in the Dean’s Room. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Dean III, Faculty Ambassador, Lecturer Representative and Representative of AGE (Airlangga Global Engagement) – UNAIR.
Surigao State College of Technology is a public university in the Philippines located in Surigao city, Surigao del Norte with campus areas in the archipelago. In a meeting with the Dean of FFM, College President, Dr. Gregorio Z. Gamboa Jr. expressed the desire of SSCT to improve the cooperation network with FFM – UNAIR, after previously signing a cooperation agreement with Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS). Dr. Gregorio delivered his visit to FFM because he heard that there was a field of fisheries studies and intended to review laboratory facilities at FFM.
The Dean said that the FFM has an outbound program for staff and students to various overseas universities which are FFM collaborative partners. The Dean also hopes that SSCT can send its students to program internship. So far, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu routinely sends students to attend an internship program organized by FFM. Prof. Mirni Lamid also explained the Bachelor and Master study programs at FFM, and the Dean also hopes that there are SSCT graduates who study in the Master Program of Biotechnology of Fisheries and Marine or the Fisheries Science which will be opened soon. Prof. Mirni Lamid said that this year, FFM held the second International Seminar on September 26, 2019. The Dean hoped that SSCT could send its delegation to participate in the 2nd International Conference on Fisheries and Marine Science (INCOFIMS).
When visiting the Laboratory of Fish Microbiology and Disease, the SSCT Delegation was impressed with the laboratory equipment facilities used for practicum and student research. The next visit to the location of catfish cultivation with an aquaponics system, unfortunately at the time of the visit, FFM had just harvested catfish. FFM’s collaboration with Surigao State College of Technology which will be facilitated by AGE UNAIR is a manifestation of the development of cooperation of FFM with universities in ASEAN as an internationalization effort for FFM.
