FPK UNAIR Delegation consists of Dean of FPK, Prof. Dr. Mirni Lamid, drh., MP along with Deputy Dean 3 of FPK, Wahju Tjahjaningsih, Ir., M.Sc. fulfilling the invitation of the Chairman of ASEAN-FEN, Prof. Dr. Happy Nursyam. Location of the roundtable meeting to discuss preparation for 2019 International Fisheries Symposium (IFS) and ASEAN_FEM’s Contitution Preparation Workshop at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Serdang, Malaysia. Present in the roundtable meeting besides Airlangga University included: delegation from UPM as host of 2019 IFS, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kasetsart University, Prince of Songkla University, Brawijaya University. Gajah Mada University, Bogor Agricultural Institute, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, West Yangon University, University of Philippines of Visayas, International Islamic Universiti Malaysia, Can Tho University, Burapha University, Pathein University.

The roundtable meeting was opened by Prof. Dr. Happy Nursyam as Chairman of ASEAN-FEN, followed by the introduction of each University delegation. The Chairman of ASEAN-FEN discusses related to the application of membership from Shiraz University, Iran (representatives not present), Pathein University, Myanmar (ASEAN-FEN associate member application), and Tianjin Institute of Science and Technology, China (ASEAN-FEN application + member ), and International Islamic University Malaysia, Malaysia (ASEAN-FEN associate member application). Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yeong Yik Sung, secretary of the ASEN-FEN explained the purpose of requiring a list of competencies of University lecturers who are members of ASEAN-FEN. “Only Kasetsart University and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu have submitted a list of experts to the ASEAN-FEN secretariat”, said Dr. Yeong Yik Sung. It is expected that all ASEAN-FEN member universities will immediately send their lecturer competency list to the ASEAN-FEN secretariat no later than April 15 2019. Dr. Yeong Yik Sung also explained the ASEAN-FEN external collaboration project (EURASTiP, MySAP and China ASEAN-FEN presidential forum). There are three outbound mobility programs for academics, students, and industry from ASEAN countries to European countries. The minimum duration of the program is 2 weeks. For the China ASEAN-FEN presidential forum, the collaboration program is fully funded by the Ocean University of China (OUC) for two weeks in China, “said Dr. Yeong Yik Sung. “The program proposal can be sent to the ASEAN-FEN secretariat and will be selected by the Team,” said Dr. Yeong Yik Sung.

The Roundtable meeting also discussed the preparation of the 2019 IFS. Prof. Dr. Aziz Arshad, delegate of Universiti Putra Malaysia as the host of the 2019 IFS, delivered preparation for the 2019 IFS. The 2019 IFS will be held on November 18-21, 2019 with the theme: ASEAN-FEN: A New Horizon in Fisheries and Aquaculture Through divided Education, Technology and Innovation in 11 topics. The important date of IFS 2019 is 18 May 2019 – the last day of pre-registration and submit abstract, 18 July 2019 – issuance of notification of acceptance and 18 September 2019 – last day of payment for early bird registration. Prof., Dr. Mirni Lamid, drh., MP, Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Affairs asked about the output of publications from the 2019 IFS. “Universiti Putra Malaysia prepared a special issue for the National Journal indexed by Scopus”, said Prof. Dr. Aziz Arshad.

The Fisheries and Marine Faculty plans to send 8 lecturers as 2019 IFS participants. It is hoped that the paper sent to 2019 IFS can pass journal special issue selection so that it can add Scopus indexed journal publications.
