UNAIR NEWS – Various steps to accelerate its program to be a World Class University continuously done by Universitas Airlangga. One of the efforts was through a coordinating meeting of faculty and university leaders entitled Finalization of Faculty Performance Targets for 2020 held on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Finna Golf & Country Club in Pasuruan.
Based on some ranking institutions, both from within and outside the country, compared to the previous year, UNAIR experienced some significant improvements. In the middle of 2019, QS announced that UNAIR was ranked 651-700 in the world. It has improved its rank 100 levels from the previous rank at 751+. Meanwhile, in Indonesia, UNAIR has achieved top five best state universities.
UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih., SE., MT., Ak., CMA., in his remarks encouraged all faculty leaders to continue to set optimal targets for the following year’s performance. For example, more attention should be paid to some indicators with low scoring rates.
“This time we will listen from faculty leaders about their acceleration program in the future,” he said.
“For example, targets in the field of accreditation of programs, both from national institution especially focusing on accreditation and programs’ international certification, “he stated.
Prof. Nasih in his presentation also encouraged faculty leaders to emphasize efficiency and effectiveness in improving performance in the faculty, including balancing with the focus of the program in the faculty. For example, do not focus only to international accreditation and certification while other program areas neglected.
“Don’t let our energy be drained only in certain field,” he said.
In other fields, Prof. Nasih highlighted problems related to length of studies as most students take longer time to fisnih studies and English language target fulfillment requirements. Assistance programs, he added, need to be done.
Increase More National and International Accreditation
In the meeting, 13 programs were targeted to increase the achievements of UNAIR A accreditation next year. The target arises from the potential for increased accreditation realized by programs in the faculty. For example, Faculty of Medicine (FK) is targeting five more programs with A accreditation including Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) who targets three programs.
“Next year, the study program’s international accreditation will be announced. For example, FIBAA, “said Prof. Nasih.
Therefore, Prof. Nasih hoped that the international accreditation will triggers other programs to follow the steps of internationalization. From the AUN institution (ASEAN University Network), for example. In total there are more than seven programs targeted for international accreditation next year.
“Hopefully the efforts of international accreditation can run well and other programs soon followed, ” he said.
