The Aquaculture Student Association, Department of Human Resource Development (PSDM), Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Universitas Airlangga successfully held the department orientation event, known as Natamandara, on August 16, 2025. The event aimed to strengthen the bond between new students, senior students, lecturers, and educational staff, while introducing academic culture and campus life. More than just an introduction program, Natamandara encouraged a sense of pride in the department, nurtured leadership spirit, and provided insights into academic facilities and resources available on campus. It also offered an understanding of the association’s vision, mission, and values, highlighting the importance of organizational involvement and personal development. Through this event, new students were expected to adapt more easily, build confidence, and become active participants in academic and student life.
Natamandara 2025 was held from 07.00 to 16.00 and featured a series of engaging and meaningful activities. This event served as a valuable experience for new students to get to know the Aquaculture Department and the vibrant community within the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Universitas Airlangga. From morning to evening, participants took part in activities designed not only to educate but also to entertain and strengthen the sense of togetherness. Sessions included Aquaculture and ITK introductions, Aquaculture Talk and Discussion (ATD), SIGMA (Scholarship Strategies and Opportunities for Active Students), Career Talks, and interactive Focus Group Discussions. Each session aimed to foster teamwork, pride in the department, and readiness to face academic and social challenges at the university. The learning outcomes were also evaluated through a post-test, ensuring that participants gained a clear understanding of the presented materials and objectives.
Following the success of Natamandara, the Aquaculture Student Association continued their commitment to student development by organizing the Upgrading event on August 22, 2025. This event provided hands-on experiences through direct field activities, allowing students to apply their learning in practical settings. One of the highlights was an outdoor session led by Kakema, where participants worked directly in fish ponds and aquaculture areas. Another engaging activity, IKAGA (Ikan-Ikan Gak Mau Kalah Gaya), added a creative and enjoyable twist to the event. The agenda also included orations and the election of the Aquaculture 2025 class committee (komting), who would serve as class representatives and coordinators to strengthen internal communication and unity. The Upgrading program aimed to deepen students’ understanding of their organizational roles, enhance teamwork, and prepare them to contribute actively to the department and the wider academic community.
Through both Natamandara and Upgrading 2025, the Aquaculture Department reaffirmed its dedication to fostering a supportive and inspiring learning environment for new students. These activities not only introduced academic and organizational values but also embodied Universitas Airlangga’s spirit of excellence, collaboration, and leadership in higher education.
