The emblem of Universitas Airlangga is Garuda Mukti, the mount of Bhatara Wisnu or Prabu Airlangga. Garuda Mukti is depicted carrying a vessel whose exterior is encircled by a ring of golden chains.
At the beginning of Universitas Airlangga's establishment, its first rector discovered the seal of Prabu Airlangga at Gedung Arca in Jakarta. The royal seal depicted Garuda, the mount of Bathara Wisnu, carrying a vessel containing the water of amrta.
The water was believed to possess eternal properties. Therefore, Garuda Mukti was chosen as the emblem of Universitas Airlangga, representing an eternal source of knowledge.

Origin of the Colors
The basic colors of yellow and blue originated at the inauguration of Universitas Airlangga. During the unveiling ceremony of the Vishnu Statue, the covering was colored yellow and blue.
The first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Soekarno, who inaugurated Universitas Airlangga, instructed that the statue be preserved. The colors of the covering were subsequently established as the colors of the Universitas Airlangga flag.
Color Philosophy
The color yellow represents grandeur, while the color blue represents chivalry and profound character.
These two colors have become part of the visual identity of Universitas Airlangga and continue to be passed down as symbols of values, character, and the spirit of scholarship.
