Official Logo

Identity

Airlangga University’s emblem is Garuda Mukti carrying an urn enclosed by a golden matarantai circle.

Why is the symbol of Universitas Airlangga not a picture of the prabu Airlangga himself, but Garuda Mukti, which is actually the prabu’s mount?

This is because, at the beginning of Airlangga University, the first rector found the seal of the prabu Airlangga, in Gedung Arca, Jakarta. The Royal seal depicts a garuda bird riding Bathara Wisnu (Prabu Airlangga) who carries an urn containing amerta water. It is said that the water is eternal. Therefore, the symbol of Universitas Airlangga is garuda mukti, as the source of eternal knowledge.
