PROFILE OF THE STUDY PROGRAM S2 FISHERIES AND MARINE BIOTECHNOLOGY

Master of Fisheries and Marine Biotechnology was founded according to Rector Decree No.1584/H3Kr/2009 with the operational permit according to Rector Decree No. 15005/H3/KR/2010, extended to 15 February 2016. Since 2019, this program has been managed by Faculty of Fisheries and Marine. This study program commits to develop fisheries and marine biotechnology concerning on aquatic biota health biotechnology, aquaculture biotechnology and fishery product biotechnology.

Vision

Become an independent, innovative and advance study program implementing morality aspects in developing science and technology relating fisheries biotechnology in the national and international level.

Mision

Mission of Master of Fisheries and Marine Biotechnology 1. Conducting effective education to develop fisheries and marine biotechnology to improve the quality intellectuality.
2. Researching on Fisheries and Marine Biotechnology, recognized in the national and international.
3. Empowering communities in the scoop of Fisheries and Marine Biotechnology.
4. Engaging stakeholder in improving competence and reinforcing the partnership.

Graduate Degree

When it finally came time to complete the study programme, the Master of Fisheries and Marine Biotechnology students were proud of their achievements. Not only have they gained valuable knowledge, but also an official degree that reflects their specialisation in fisheries, namely Master of Science (M.Si).

PLU601 AQUATIC BIOTA PHYSIOLOGY
This course discusses the concept and scope of aquatic organism physiology, which is focused on the hormonal system of metabolism (biochemistry), fish reproduction and spawning, the mechanism of endocrine and hormone systems, osmoregulation, blood circulation systems, tools and respiratory system, bioenergy and biology development, physiological changes in aquatic animals due to external and internal factors (disease and pollution)related to the quality of fisheries and marine production.

This course discusses the superior quality engineering of brood and seed production, which includes: superior brood selection, quality seed production and no diseases, SPR and SPF seed production, application of transgenic technology in aquatic biota, aquatic biota breeding system, health reproduction of aquatic biota, anatomy reproduction of aquatic biota, endocrine and hormon reproduction of aquatic biota, reproduction cycle, spermiation and ovulation techniques, reproduction technology in marine biota.

This course discusses: 1) definition, history, potential and prospects, classification, and the basics of cell / tissue growth theory, 2) development of cell / embryo culture, 3) media, equipment, basic concepts of in vitro cell culture and embryos, including aseptic techniques and efforts to prevent contamination of culture systems, 4) methods of sterilization of tools and materials, manufacture of primary cultures, isolation and sub-culture techniques, cell growth and maintenance of cell lines and cell cryopreservation and 5) utilization of culture specimens for engineering, chromosome analysis (karyotyping) in the field of fisheries research.
