On Saturday, October 11, 2025, a Work Visit themed “Innovating Marine and Fisheries Future” was successfully conducted by the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, IPB University. The event took place at IPB University and was attended by delegates from the Student Executive Boards of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Airlangga (BEM FPK UNAIR), Universitas Padjadjaran (BEM FPIK UNPAD), and Universitas Diponegoro (BEM FPIK UNDIP). This collaborative activity aimed to foster realistic innovations in response to the evolving needs of the fisheries and marine science community, while also strengthening the bonds among student organizations across major universities in Indonesia. Moreover, the program served as a strategic platform for sharing knowledge on organizational management systems, flagship programs, and communication strategies, as well as enhancing student engagement both within academic settings and in broader society.
During the work visit, each Student Executive Board presented insights into their organizational structures, strategic work programs, and the challenges encountered during the 2024/2025 term. The event opened with welcoming remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, IPB University, who emphasized the importance of inter-university collaboration in advancing innovation and leadership among future marine and fisheries professionals. The session continued with a Focus Group Discussion (FGD), where participants discussed various student-related issues, program management strategies for each ministry, and approaches to improve synergy and creativity in student governance. This interactive exchange fostered a collaborative atmosphere, encouraging the participants to share experiences, compare approaches, and collectively envision innovative solutions to enhance the impact of student-led initiatives.
Throughout the event, the participants demonstrated enthusiasm and active participation, reflecting the shared commitment to advancing the quality of student organizations within the field of fisheries and marine sciences. The discussions provided fresh insights and constructive perspectives that are expected to strengthen inter-campus collaboration in future projects, research partnerships, and community service programs. Beyond academic exchange, this activity also underscored the significance of building a strong network of young leaders dedicated to sustainable marine and fisheries development, aligning with the national vision of advancing Indonesia’s blue economy.
The event concluded with documentation sessions, where photos and videos captured the spirit of collaboration among the four major universities. Following the documentation, the Master of Ceremony officially closed the program and directed all participants to the SDGs Lake located near the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences area, where a symbolic fish seed release activity took place. This final session not only marked the end of the event but also represented a shared commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship—core values that unite academic institutions in the pursuit of innovative and responsible marine resource management.
