Sidoarjo – The MANDALA 3.0 Day 4 community service program (Masyarakat Mandiri dalam Pengolahan Hasil Perikanan/Independent Community in Fisheries Product Processing) officially concluded on Saturday (18/7/2026) at the Kalanganyar Village Hall, Sedati District, Sidoarjo Regency. The fourth day marked the official closing of the entire four-day series of activities carried out alongside the people of Kalanganyar Village.
The program was part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the field of community service. Through its series of activities, MANDALA 3.0 sought to enhance community capacity and competitiveness by utilizing local potential in fisheries, food, marketing, and community economic development.
Official Closing Marks the End of the MANDALA 3.0 Series
The closing ceremony was attended by Kalanganyar Village officials and the committee involved in the implementation of MANDALA 3.0. The event began with remarks from the Chair of the Organizing Committee, followed by remarks from the Chairperson of the Association of Fisheries Product Technology Students (HIMATEKHIKAN) and a representative of the Head of Kalanganyar Village.
Throughout the event, all parties expressed their appreciation for the successful implementation of the four-day community empowerment program. The implementation of MANDALA 3.0 served as a platform for collaboration between students, higher education institutions, the village government, and the community in developing local potential while enhancing community knowledge and skills.
The official closing of the program was marked by the symbolic presentation of a plaque to a representative of Kalanganyar Village. The ceremony served as a form of appreciation as well as a symbol of the collaborative relationship established between the program organizers and the local community. The event was then followed by a group documentation session involving the committee and village officials.
Community Appreciation and Hopes for Program Sustainability
Following the closing ceremony, the event continued with the delivery of messages and impressions from the people of Kalanganyar Village. The community expressed their appreciation for the implementation of MANDALA 3.0, which was considered to have provided new insights and experiences in various areas related to the lives of coastal communities.
The various materials and activities carried out throughout the MANDALA 3.0 series are expected to continue being implemented and further developed by the community. Knowledge of sanitation and hygiene, fisheries product diversification, independent fish feed production, and modern marketing strategies serves as valuable knowledge that can support greater community self-reliance.
The interactions established throughout the program also strengthened hopes that collaboration between students, higher education institutions, the village government, and the community can continue in the future. Thus, the conclusion of the MANDALA 3.0 series does not mark the end of the empowerment process, but rather the beginning of the continued positive impact that has been built together.
Supporting Sustainable Coastal Community Development
The implementation of MANDALA 3.0 also contributed to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) through strengthening food security and economic empowerment based on local potential. In addition, the program contributed to SDG 14 (Life Below Water) by increasing community understanding of how to optimize and sustainably manage coastal potential and aquatic resources.
As part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, MANDALA 3.0 represents a tangible contribution by students to community empowerment. Through a spirit of collaboration and sustainability, the program is expected to provide long-term benefits for the people of Kalanganyar Village and encourage the development of a self-reliant, competitive, and sustainable coastal community.
