The PKM Safari 2025, organized by the Student Resource Development Ministry (PSDM) of the Student Executive Board, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Airlangga (FPK UNAIR), has successfully inspired the spirit of innovation among new students. As an annual program, PKM Safari serves as both an introduction and a mentoring platform to help students understand and prepare for the Student Creativity Program (Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa/PKM). This initiative aims to improve students’ literacy and capability in developing high-quality PKM proposals while fostering early innovation and research enthusiasm. The program was held in both offline and online formats from August 15 to October 1, 2025, and was enthusiastically attended by first-year FPK UNAIR students.
The 2025 series of PKM Safari activities included a comprehensive PKM socialization session, an engaging webinar and discussion forum “Ngobras PKM,” and two main consultation sessions, PKM Safari I and II. These consultation sessions were guided by two distinguished lecturers, Dr. Ahmad Shofy Mubarak, S.Pi., M.Si., and Mr. Kustiawan Tri Pursetyo, S.Pi., M.Vet., who provided valuable insights and feedback to participants. The program created an interactive learning environment that encouraged collaboration between students and lecturers, nurturing creative and solution-oriented project ideas. More than 100 active students from the 2025 cohort took part enthusiastically throughout the sessions, showing strong engagement and curiosity during both the socialization and consultation segments.
One of the remarkable outcomes of PKM Safari 2025 was the successful creation of over 50 student project proposals, reflecting a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of scientific writing and proposal development. Among these, 30 of the best proposals were carefully selected to represent FPK UNAIR in the KIM UNAIR 2025 competition. This achievement demonstrates the effectiveness of PKM Safari in preparing students to compete at higher academic levels while promoting creativity and research excellence.
The culmination of PKM Safari 2025 resulted in outstanding achievements by several groups, based on evaluations from the supervising lecturers. The first-place winner was Group 41, “Black Ghost Fish,” led by Ahmad Zaki Hafidz. The second place went to Group 43, “Molly Fish,” led by Fathir Ibnu Sholeh, and the third place was awarded to Group 38, “Corydoras Fish,” led by Niken Safrotul Kholifah. The awarding ceremony will be held offline on October 26, 2025, at the Candradimuka Hall, Universitas Airlangga. The committee hopes that this event will serve as an early milestone for FPK UNAIR students to become creative, innovative, and high-achieving individuals in research and community engagement through the PKM program.
