The opening ceremony of the Airlangga Fisherine Competition (AFISHCO) 2025 took place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, marking the beginning of an exciting futsal tournament among senior high school teams. Organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Airlangga, the event was held at the Pertamina Futsal Hall, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS). Seven teams from various high schools participated in this year’s competition. The ceremony began with an opening speech by Alwach Zidny Ni’am, Chairperson of AFISHCO 2025, followed by remarks from the Person in Charge (PIC), the Minister of Youth and Sports, and concluded with a welcome address by Fahmi Bayhaqi, President of BEM FPK Universitas Airlangga. Their messages expressed appreciation and enthusiasm toward the young athletes competing in this inter-school futsal tournament.
The opening ceremony was filled with high spirits and lively energy from both participants and organizers. The highlight of the event was a symbolic kick-off by Fahmi Bayhaqi, President of BEM FPK Universitas Airlangga, marking the official start of AFISHCO 2025. The symbolic goal kick, met with loud applause from the audience, represented the shared excitement and competitive spirit that the event aimed to foster. This moment captured the essence of sportsmanship, teamwork, and collaboration between participants and the organizing committee. The AFISHCO competition, beyond being a futsal tournament, reflects the faculty’s commitment to developing youth potential, promoting physical well-being, and strengthening the values of camaraderie and fair play among students.
The first day of the competition featured preliminary matches to determine which teams would advance to the next round. The participating teams were divided into two groups: Group A consisting of four teams and Group B consisting of three. The teams competed against each other in an elimination format, with the winning teams moving on to the semi-final stage. Six matches were held on the first day, each filled with energy, sportsmanship, and the passionate cheers of supporters from their respective schools. The opening match between SMA Sejahtera and SMA Hang Tuah 2 ended in a thrilling 1–1 draw. The following match saw SMKN 10 claim victory over SMA Sejahtera with a score of 2–1. The third match between SMAN 19 and SMK Wijaya Putra also ended in a 1–1 draw. The fourth match featured SMK Wachid Hasyim 2 and SMA Hang Tuah 2, which again ended 1–1. SMK Wachid Hasyim 2 then dominated the fifth match, defeating SMKN 10 with an impressive 4–0 victory. The day concluded with SMK PGRI defeating SMAN 19 by 2–0, wrapping up the opening day with strong performances and growing anticipation for the next rounds.
The smooth execution of AFISHCO 2025’s opening day reflected the strong dedication of the organizing committee and the active involvement of the participating schools. The event successfully drew enthusiasm from spectators and supporters alike, fostering an engaging and motivating atmosphere throughout the competition. The organizers expressed hope that the same enthusiasm and sportsmanship would continue in the following days as the tournament progresses toward its finals.
