Surabaya — The first day of the Basic Student Management Skills Training (LKMM-TD) at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK) Universitas Airlangga officially kicked off on Saturday, August 9, 2025. What is usually a quiet corner of campus where students relax between classes transformed into a lively and engaging space filled with the energy of 2024 freshmen—ready to explore something they often avoid talking about: student organization.

The morning began with registration and an opening session led by the organizing committee, followed by a series of presentations on the fundamentals of organizational management. Students were introduced to the essential principles of coordination, communication, and leadership—skills that are crucial not only for managing organizations but also for academic and professional growth. As the sun leaned toward the west, the day’s real highlight began, turning the training into an unforgettable learning experience.

The closing session was led by Mr. Annur Ahadi Abdillah, who presented a topic titled “Organizing an Event.” Unlike conventional lectures, this session took place outdoors, where students were engaged in a range of interactive games and team challenges. The activity required them to think critically, move actively, and work together strategically—sometimes laughing, sometimes shouting in frustration, but always learning by doing. Through every challenge, they discovered that organizing isn’t just about drafting proposals or attending meetings; it’s about building trust, adaptability, and shared responsibility within a team.

The 2024 cohort’s enthusiasm was undeniable. Despite the sweltering heat that made their shirts cling to their backs, their motivation only grew stronger as the day went on. Each simulation taught them how to plan, delegate, and execute tasks while maintaining harmony among diverse personalities. What seemed like a simple activity turned into a reflection of real-world organizational dynamics—where cooperation and compromise often outweigh personal ambitions.

The day concluded with a casual reflection and evaluation session. Many participants admitted that the experience shifted their perspective on organizational life. They realized that being part of a student organization goes beyond administrative routines; it’s a process of learning self-awareness, collaboration, and leadership through direct engagement. One day was all it took to open new perspectives—and this is just the beginning of their journey toward becoming adaptive, collaborative, and competent future leaders of FPK UNAIR.
