On Thursday, May 22, 2025, the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences at Universitas Airlangga hosted the third episode of POLISH (Podcast in English), a flagship program of the faculty’s English Week. POLISH runs weekly for eight consecutive weeks, featuring inspiring lecturers and students discussing diverse themes in English. This week’s episode welcomed Mr. M. Nur Ghoyatul Amin, S.TP., M.P., M.Sc., as the guest speaker, presenting an engaging topic titled “From Struggle to Stream: Sir Ghoyatul’s Euro Journey.” The session, hosted by Fippo and Samara, student ambassadors of FPK UNAIR 2024, took place from 12:00 to 13:00 WIB at the FPK UNAIR Student Center.
During a lively and motivational discussion, Mr. Ghoyatul shared his experiences pursuing higher education in Austria and how he discovered his passion in the digital creative field as a content creator. He emphasized the challenges of living abroad, describing how overcoming obstacles helped him develop resilience, broaden his perspective, and uncover new opportunities previously unimagined. One pivotal moment in his digital career came when a video he produced went viral, amassing nearly 3 million views. This success encouraged him to dedicate himself to creating educational and motivational content, expanding his reach and influence in the online community. Despite his achievements, he candidly admitted that he regretted not starting his content creation journey earlier: “I regret not starting to be a content creator earlier.”
The episode offered more than personal anecdotes; it provided students with practical inspiration to embrace new experiences, leverage digital platforms, and begin creating early in their careers. By conducting the entire session in English, POLISH not only strengthens public speaking and communication skills but also creates an internationalized environment relevant to the academic and professional development of today’s youth. Students actively engaged in the conversation, asking questions and discussing strategies for balancing study, work, and digital content creation.
The discussion also highlighted the connection between international study experiences and personal growth. Mr. Ghoyatul reflected on how navigating cultural differences and academic challenges abroad shaped his professional mindset and fostered innovative thinking. He encouraged students to approach their studies and extracurricular projects with curiosity, resilience, and creativity, reinforcing the faculty’s mission to prepare graduates who can thrive in both local and global contexts.
Concluding the session, the hosts expressed gratitude for the insights shared, noting the episode’s high energy and interactive atmosphere. Students left the event inspired to pursue their own paths in digital media and beyond. POLISH is set to return with its fourth episode next week, promising another engaging session that combines language practice, personal development, and inspirational storytelling.
