Muhammad Syarif Satriyo Samudra, a student of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK) Universitas Airlangga, showed that young age is not an obstacle to success in the business world. Through two companies that he has developed, PT Rejeki Bintang Samudra and CV Mulya Samudra Maju Abadi, Satriyo has successfully managed Gracilaria seaweed cultivation on abandoned lands in Surabaya, Sidoarjo and Gresik.
Satriyo started this business in 2020, when he was still an active student. Through collaboration with the Ciputra Entrepreneur Club, Satriyo and his partners share roles in the management and marketing of the seaweed cultivation. One of Satriyo’s biggest motivations was a message from his late father who wanted him to contribute to the development of marine potential around Sidoarjo.
Although faced with various challenges, especially in terms of mental management when managing living things, Satriyo continues to innovate and strive to give the best in his business. According to him, prayer and a spiritual approach are also key in facing the challenges in this aquaculture business.
