On September 24, 2025, a delegation from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Airlangga (FPK Unair), conducted a monitoring and evaluation visit (Monev PKL) to the Hydrography and Oceanography Center of the Indonesian Navy (Pushidrosal). The team consisted of Prof. Dr. Akhmad Taufiq Mukti, S.Pi., M.Si., R.M. Browijoyo Santanumurti, S.Pi., M.Sc., and Bastomi Fahriszal, A.Md. Per. Kes. This visit was part of FPK Unair’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the quality and effectiveness of its Field Work Practice (PKL) program while strengthening academic collaboration with national institutions. Four students from the Aquaculture Study Program specializing in Marine Science and Technology (ITK) were assigned to conduct their internships at the Navy’s Hydrography and Oceanography Center. The evaluation aimed to assess their learning progress, professional performance, and the relevance of the internship activities to their academic curriculum.

Two of the students were placed in the DISOSEMET (Oceanography and Meteorology Division) and the other two in the DISHIDRO (Hydrography Division). During the visit to DISOSEMET, the FPK Unair team was warmly welcomed by Mr. Agus, Mr. Dimas, Mr. Malik, Mr. Hambali, and Mr. Putra as field supervisors. They expressed satisfaction with the performance of FPK Unair students, highlighting their enthusiasm, discipline, and eagerness to learn. According to the supervisors, both students had adapted well to the work environment and showed a strong commitment to completing their assigned tasks responsibly. The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss future collaborations and identify areas where the academic curriculum could be further aligned with real-world oceanographic and meteorological practices.

Following the evaluation at DISOSEMET, the FPK Unair delegation continued their visit to DISHIDRO, another sub-division under the Hydrography and Oceanography Center. The team was received by Mr. Dirdik, Mr. Ainun, and Mr. Agus, who served as supervisors for the two other students placed there. They reported that the students showed excellent performance and a commendable work ethic throughout their internship period. The students demonstrated steady progress each day, applying their academic knowledge to practical challenges in hydrographic surveying, data analysis, and marine mapping. The supervisors conveyed that both the DISOSEMET and DISHIDRO divisions were impressed by the professionalism and enthusiasm shown by FPK Unair interns, making them eager to welcome more students in future programs.

The positive outcomes from this monitoring visit reflect the strong synergy between FPK Unair and Pushidrosal, showcasing the benefits of linking academic knowledge with real-world marine applications. The Hydrography and Oceanography Center expressed their wish to establish a formal Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with FPK Unair to facilitate future internships, research collaborations, and training programs. Such partnerships are expected to create more opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in the field of marine sciences and to contribute to Indonesia’s national marine and coastal development initiatives. The Navy’s institution also stated its openness to welcoming FPK Unair students for internships, research, and collaborative projects at their facilities in Jakarta.

Through this monitoring and evaluation activity, FPK Unair continues to reinforce its commitment to academic excellence and practical skill development. The visit not only ensured that the internship program aligns with professional standards but also strengthened institutional relationships with key stakeholders in marine research and national defense. By maintaining such collaborations, the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences strives to prepare graduates who are both academically competent and ready to contribute to the sustainable management of Indonesia’s marine resources.
