Surabaya, 4 February 2026. A student delegation from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), achieved outstanding success at the International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation and Technology Exposition (IPITEX) 2026, a prestigious annual global innovation competition held in Bangkok, Thailand, and organized by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT). Competing alongside hundreds of innovators from around the world, the FPK UNAIR delegation demonstrated academic excellence and research competitiveness on the international stage.

The FPK UNAIR delegation, representing Universitas Airlangga, participated in three separate teams and proudly secured one Gold Medal, one Silver Medal, and one Bronze Medal. These achievements were the result of rigorous scientific research and interdisciplinary collaboration involving the Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline (FTMM), the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), and Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). Through strong academic synergy, the teams developed innovative solutions addressing contemporary challenges in fisheries, marine sciences, and sustainable technology. Their participation in IPITEX 2026 reflects FPK UNAIR’s commitment to fostering research-based innovation, encouraging cross-faculty collaboration, and strengthening global academic partnerships.

IPITEX 2026 brought together approximately 873 innovator teams from 24 countries, including Indonesia, Thailand, China, India, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Malaysia, Croatia, Kuwait, Laos, Morocco, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Vietnam, Yemen, and others. The exposition featured more than 800 innovation projects across diverse categories such as health, environmental sustainability, Internet of Things (IoT), agriculture, and applied technology. As one of the most reputable international invention expos in Asia, IPITEX serves as a platform for intellectual exchange, technology commercialization opportunities, and global networking among researchers, academics, industry representatives, and policymakers. Through a rigorous evaluation process conducted by international juries, participants were assessed based on originality, applicability, scientific contribution, and societal impact. The success of FPK UNAIR students in such a competitive environment highlights the quality of academic supervision, laboratory facilities, and research culture nurtured within the faculty.

The triumph of the FPK UNAIR delegation at IPITEX 2026 is not only a milestone for the faculty but also a source of inspiration for students across Universitas Airlangga. This achievement demonstrates how academic research, when supported by collaborative ecosystems and innovation-driven learning, can produce tangible global recognition. FPK UNAIR continues to encourage its students to engage actively in research, intellectual property development, and community service initiatives that contribute to sustainable fisheries and marine resource management in Indonesia. Through science and technology training programs, industry partnerships, and community empowerment projects, the faculty remains committed to supporting Indonesia’s Golden Vision 2045. By promoting smart and environmentally friendly aquaculture innovations, FPK UNAIR strives to shape a resilient, sustainable, and globally competitive fisheries sector for the nation’s future.
