The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), through its Islamic Spiritual Unit (Sie Kerohanian Islam/SKI), officially commenced its 2026 organizational period by holding a Welcoming Session and Annual Work Meeting on Sunday, 22 February 2026, from 09.00 to 12.00 WIB at Building B 303, FPK UNAIR. This event marked an important starting point for strengthening solidarity among board members while formulating a strategic one-year work plan aligned with values of meaningful contribution, collaboration, and sustainable development. As part of the academic ecosystem within FPK UNAIR, SKI plays a vital role in fostering students’ spiritual growth alongside intellectual and professional development in fisheries and marine sciences.
The event began with an introduction session involving all SKI 2026 board members and active participants, aimed at building personal connections and reinforcing team cohesion. An interactive atmosphere was created through a series of engaging games designed to enhance focus, teamwork, and collective spirit. One of the most notable activities was a name-memorization challenge for participants who were less attentive during the session, encouraging responsibility and attentiveness while maintaining a supportive and enjoyable environment. This approach not only broke the ice but also strengthened the sense of belonging within the organization. The welcoming and work meeting was attended by all core administrators and active members of SKI FPK UNAIR 2026. Discussions were conducted in an orderly, communicative, and participatory manner, particularly during the interactive question-and-answer session. During his address, the Chairperson of SKI 2026 delivered an inspiring message: “We are not merely organizing; we are building a legacy.” This statement underscored the long-term vision of SKI, emphasizing that every program and initiative is designed not only for the current management period but also as a sustainable foundation for future generations.
The primary objective of the meeting was to align SKI 2026’s vision, mission, and structured work plans to ensure broader and measurable impact. Within the context of a faculty specializing in fisheries and marine sciences, SKI also committed to strengthening students’ character development, particularly in fostering social awareness and environmental responsibility. Planned social programs focusing on community empowerment align with SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), reflecting efforts to support community welfare initiatives. Furthermore, as part of the FPK UNAIR academic community, SKI actively promotes environmental awareness consistent with SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 14 (Life Below Water), especially through educational activities and campaigns advocating the preservation of aquatic ecosystems. This integration of spiritual values and sustainability principles demonstrates how student organizations can contribute meaningfully to both character development and global development goals.
The collaborative spirit established during the Work Meeting also supports SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), as SKI opens opportunities for synergy with other student organizations, campus da’wah institutions, and student activity units within Universitas Airlangga. With careful planning and a strong sense of collective purpose, SKI FPK UNAIR 2026 remains optimistic about contributing not only to students’ spiritual enrichment but also to cultivating leadership characterized by integrity, responsibility, and societal impact.
