The Initial Momentum of HIMAKUA FPK UNAIR in Strengthening Solidarity and Collaboration

Bagikan

Solidarity and a sense of belonging serve as essential foundations in developing a sustainable and adaptive student organization. This value was reflected in the welcoming series organized by the Aquaculture Student Association of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Universitas Airlangga (FPK UNAIR), at the beginning of the even semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. The activity marked an initial momentum to strengthen relationships among members and establish collaborative communication from the start of the new organizational period.

The program involved active members and the 2025 cohort as part of the regeneration process. Participants actively engaged in introduction sessions, organizational direction briefings, and open discussions regarding the role of aquaculture students within the academic environment. The interaction fostered a communicative and inclusive atmosphere, creating a warm and supportive environment.

Substantively, the activity aimed to integrate new members into the organizational system, instill responsibility, and reinforce collective commitment in implementing future programs. Beyond serving as a platform for extracurricular engagement, the association functions as a learning space for leadership, teamwork management, and intellectual capacity building.

In the academic context, strengthening internal solidarity contributes to developing student competencies oriented toward sustainable aquatic resource management. The collaborative spirit cultivated through this initiative aligns with the principles of Life Below Water (SDGs 14), reflecting the relevance of aquaculture studies in promoting responsible marine and fisheries practices.

Participants reported increased confidence, smoother adaptation, and improved cross-cohort communication. One participant expressed that the initiative helped new members understand the organizational culture comprehensively, while another highlighted the relaxed yet meaningful interaction that facilitated positive relationship building.

Through this initial step, the Aquaculture Student Association of FPK UNAIR reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing not only active programs but also strong shared values.
