UNAIR Aquaculture Upgrading 2025: Field Experience and Class Committee Election

Surabaya – A week after Natamandara, the Aquaculture Student Association continued its freshmen development program with Upgrading 2025, held on Friday, August 22, 2025. Unlike Natamandara, which focused on academic orientation, this event emphasized hands-on experiences and strengthening social bonds among freshmen.

One of the most anticipated sessions was the field practice at ponds and aquaculture sites. Freshmen were directly involved in basic aquaculture activities, from cultivation techniques to pond ecosystem management. Guided by Kakema, the session provided both technical knowledge and real-life insights into the field.

In addition to field practice, students joined a creative session called IKAGA (Creative Student Engagement Activity). The activity encouraged teamwork, creativity, and confidence in expressing ideas. The lively and enthusiastic atmosphere made the session both educational and entertaining.

The program continued with student orations, allowing freshmen to voice their aspirations, hopes, and commitment to their cohort. The highlight of the event was the election of the Aquaculture 2025 Class Committee (Komting), who will act as a liaison within the cohort as well as a coordinator of important information and activities.

The Komting plays a vital role in ensuring smooth communication and strengthening solidarity among the freshmen. With their leadership, freshmen are expected to stay well-informed and united throughout their studies.

Upgrading 2025 demonstrated that freshmen development goes beyond academic introductions; it involves real experiences, creativity, leadership, and teamwork. With these valuable lessons, UNAIR Aquaculture freshmen are now better prepared to actively contribute to their department and faculty life.

HYEGENE AND SANITATION
This course discusses the principles and implementation of hygiene and sanitation in the aquatic product processing industry, the role and benefits of hygiene and sanitation for food safety of aquatic products, hygiene and sanitation in supporting HACCP in aquatic products.

ECOBIOLOGY OF ACQUATIC ORGANISM
This course discusses the interaction of fish with their environment (physical-chemical-biological factors) related to spatio-temporal distribution and the presence of fish, predation, intraspecific and interspecific competitions, spawning, growth, food, behavior and fish survival.

Mata kuliah ini membahas tentang mekanisme endokrinologi organisme akuatik terkait dengan produksi akuakultur, keragaan fungsi interaksi kelenjar endokrin, sistem dan regulasi hormon yang khas pada organisme akuatik, peran, sistem dan regulasi, hormonal pada proses osmoregulasi, metamorfosis, molting, metabolisme, pertumbuhan dan reproduksi, diferensiasi seks, adaptasi dan sistem kekebalan tuhuh organisme akuatik.
