The Journey of Thalassia Oceannore: From Malang to the Stage of Airlangga Maritime Week 2025

Bagikan

Starting from a simple dream to learn and explore new experiences, three high school students from Malang — united under the name Thalassia Oceannore — successfully achieved a remarkable accomplishment at Airlangga Maritime Week (AMW) 2025. The event, organized by the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK), Universitas Airlangga, served as a platform for young talents to develop their potential in the field of marine and fisheries innovation.

From Small Ideas to Big Dreams

The Thalassia Oceannore team never expected to go far in this national-scale competition. After passing through a strict selection process and entering the Top 30, they were challenged to create a video presentation to advance to the next stage.

“We couldn’t believe it when we made it to the Top 10. The moment we knew we were going to Universitas Airlangga, it felt like a dream,” said one of the team members.

Their arrival at Airlangga Campus C in Surabaya marked the beginning of an unforgettable academic journey. They were warmly welcomed by the AMW committee and prepared for the final presentation round.

A Warm Welcome and Supportive Atmosphere

During their stay in Surabaya, participants received mentoring sessions from FPK UNAIR students and the organizing team. The encouragement and guidance made the competition not only educational but also inspiring.
Despite initial nervousness, the team regained confidence thanks to the friendly and motivating environment.

Experiencing the Dream Campus

For Thalassia Oceannore, stepping into Universitas Airlangga was more than just a competition—it was a glimpse into their academic aspirations.

“The campus was amazing. It made us even more eager to pursue higher education in marine science,” shared one member with a smile.
