The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK) at Universitas Airlangga successfully held its flagship program, the Career Festival, organized by the Ministry of External Affairs (Hublu) under the Student Executive Board (BEM) FPK UNAIR. The event took place over two days at the Candradimuka Hall, 9th floor of the Shared Lecture Building, Campus C, Universitas Airlangga. The first session was held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 12.15 to 15.30 WIB, while the second session followed on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 08.00 to 13.30 WIB. This year’s festival adopted the theme “Blue Growth for a Greener Tomorrow,” focusing on “Adolescent Resilience Strategies in Facing Career Anxiety in the Marine and Fisheries Sector.” The event also collaborated with the National Seminar (Seminar Nasional) of KAKEMA FPK UNAIR, further enriching the academic and professional discourse.
Career Festival 2025 featured three engaging sessions with expert speakers from diverse backgrounds in marine sciences, aquaculture, food safety, and career development. The first session presented insightful talks by Mr. Prayogo, S.Pi., M.P.; Dr. Rizkiy Amaliyah Barakwan, S.T.; and Mr. Muhammad Syarif Satriyo Samudra, S.Pi. They shared perspectives on aquaponic systems, water quality technology, and the essential role of seaweed in supporting sustainable ecosystems. Among the speakers, Mr. Satriyo stood out as an alumnus of FPK UNAIR class of 2021 and a young entrepreneur in the seaweed industry. He discussed how Gracilaria, a seaweed species, plays a vital ecological role by absorbing excess nutrients, binding heavy metals, and increasing dissolved oxygen levels in aquatic systems. He further explained that Gracilaria contributes to maintaining pond and coastal water quality, preventing eutrophication and harmful algal blooms, while supporting the life of fish and shrimp in aquaculture environments.
The second session was led by Ms. Laminem, S.Pi., M.P., who delivered a comprehensive presentation titled “HACCP: Understanding the Basics of Food Safety.” She elaborated on the principles of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system, explaining its function in maintaining product safety in the aquaculture feed industry. Her session covered how to establish and implement safety standards, the importance of certification, and the role of food safety systems in ensuring consumer trust and sustainability in marine product industries. The audience showed high enthusiasm as they learned how these standards could enhance both professional and industry competitiveness within the fisheries and marine science sector.
The final session featured Ms. Cicik Ari Sucahyani, S.H., a representative from KADIN Institute, who discussed strategies for building and developing a sustainable career. She emphasized five essential steps for career success: recognizing personal goals, developing skills and knowledge, expanding professional networks, presenting oneself effectively, and maintaining flexibility while practicing self-evaluation. Her session motivated students to reflect on their career aspirations and apply these principles to navigate challenges in an evolving global workforce. The insights shared by Ms. Cicik were particularly relevant to students preparing to enter professional environments, encouraging them to develop both confidence and adaptability.
Overall, Career Festival 2025 served as more than just a seminar—it became a bridge connecting academic knowledge with real-world career insights. The collaboration between BEM FPK UNAIR and KAKEMA demonstrated the faculty’s commitment to empowering students with skills and understanding necessary for the blue economy era. Through this event, participants not only gained scientific and technical knowledge but also learned how to translate their academic experiences into meaningful career pathways. The enthusiasm and interaction throughout the sessions reflected a strong spirit of learning and collaboration within the FPK UNAIR community, reinforcing its vision to produce future leaders in sustainable marine and fisheries development.
