Universitas Airlangga (Unair) marked its 70th anniversary with a lively celebration by hosting the Airlangga Fitness Dance Competition on Sunday (3/11/24). Faculty members and staff from across campus participated in the event, held at the Management Office Courtyard of the MERR-C Campus, promoting fitness and unity. Unair’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE, MT, Ak., officially opened the event, encouraging all participants to pose with a ‘J’ hand gesture as a symbol of “Unair Joss!” spirit.
The competition began with clear rules: participants would have to repeat dance moves if there were technical issues with the audio. Each team performed a sequence that included warm-up, core movements 1-8, and cooldown, and they also chanted cheers before starting their routine. Prof. Nasih emphasized the importance of cohesion between faculty and unit leaders, who were also required to participate in the dance behind their teams. “If leaders don’t participate, their team will lose points,” he stated.
The competition featured four sessions, with strict judging criteria that assessed technique, synchronization, costume creativity, expression, and music alignment. After all teams performed, the winners were announced: the IDI team (Internationalization, Digitization, Information) won a special prize; FIKKIA won the award for the most festive costume; and the FEB team won the award for the most stylish costume.
For the main winners, the FIB team came in third, FST team took second place, and the Satu Sehat team (a collaboration of RSGM, RSUA, RSH, and Unair Health Services Center) emerged as the first-place winner. Unair’s Rector shared his hopes that this event would inspire the campus community to work together and excel in all fields.
The Faculty of Fisheries also joined in the celebration, organizing a fishing competition titled “UNAIR MANCING 70SS,” adding to the excitement of Unair’s 70th anniversary. May this spirit continue to strengthen Unair as a top university in all areas!
