The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Universitas Airlangga, organized a Healthy Exercise activity on 13 February 2026 as the final wellness session before the holy month of Ramadan. The initiative served as a strategic platform to promote a healthy lifestyle, strengthen academic solidarity, and reinforce the faculty’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The activity was held at the FPK UNAIR campus and led by Dwi Yuli Pujiastuti, S.Pi., M.P. as the exercise instructor. The session was attended by lecturers, administrative staff, and students from various study programs within the faculty. As a routine faculty agenda, this particular session carried additional significance as it marked the closing wellness activity prior to Ramadan.

The exercise movements were designed to be dynamic yet inclusive, ensuring accessibility for participants of different ages and professional backgrounds. Participants demonstrated high enthusiasm, reflecting collective awareness of the importance of maintaining physical and mental well-being.

The event continued with interactive fun games facilitated by Annur Ahadi Abdillah, S.Pi., M.Si., Ph.D. The session fostered teamwork, communication, and stronger interpersonal relationships among faculty members and students. Such non-academic activities play a strategic role in cultivating an inclusive and harmonious campus environment.

The event was attended by dozens of participants representing lecturers, administrative personnel, and students. This cross-sectional participation highlights the faculty’s ongoing efforts to nurture a cohesive and supportive academic community.

The primary objectives of the activity included enhancing physical fitness, strengthening internal relationships, and promoting a sustainable healthy lifestyle culture. Participants reported benefits not only in terms of improved endurance and metabolic balance but also reduced stress levels and stronger institutional belonging.

Aligned with Universitas Airlangga’s commitment to sustainable development, the initiative contributes to several SDGs. Strengthening campus well-being supports SDGs 1 (No Poverty) through human resource empowerment. Health awareness promotion aligns with SDGs 2 (Zero Hunger) in the context of nutrition and healthy living. The use of open campus spaces reflects sustainable practices relevant to SDGs 13 (Climate Action).

As a faculty dedicated to fisheries and marine sciences, strengthening human capital also indirectly supports SDGs 14 (Life Below Water), as sustainable marine resource management depends on capable and healthy stakeholders. Moreover, collaboration among faculty members reflects SDGs 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) at the institutional level.

A participating lecturer stated that the activity was essential for maintaining fitness and strengthening collegial bonds before Ramadan. A student added that the event created a warmer campus atmosphere and strengthened connections beyond classroom interactions.

Through this initiative held on 13 February 2026, FPK UNAIR reaffirms that sustainable development is achieved not only through research and community engagement but also through reinforcing a healthy and collaborative internal culture. The physical and mental well-being of the academic community remains a fundamental pillar in supporting higher education excellence.
